So a couple of Christmases ago my mother gave me a Christmas cactus. Here is a picture of it:
I love cacti of all kinds and this one is a jewel because it only blooms at Christmas time. For a few short weeks in December it has these super pretty pink blossoms and then they go away and you wait a whole year before they return and It's nothing but good times.
Well, as you may know, it's February so the flowering season has passed. Well! Imagine my surprise and utter dismay when I walked in the kitchen the other day and saw THIS dangling to the side:
A closer look:
"Um, HELLO," i pointed at it with an accusatory glare. "Just what do you think you're doing there??" I distinctly recall this being a Christmas cactus. I repeat, CHRISTMASSSS...cactus. And this isn't what I signed up for at ALL. I mean, the nerve!! The gall! Here it is, two months later, the previous blossoms having happily completed the Christmas cycle and it decides to show up AGAIN? What, as some kind of Valentine's cactus? I don't think so, pal! So i lopped it off and felt a lot better.
Nah, just kiddin', I didn't. It's pretty though, isn't it.
