New Year's Resolushjens

Remember how i said i love puns w/my name? You thought i was joking but i wasn't. I never joke, not about puns.

I am not above making resolutions. I say this because everyone seems to do this and I like to pretend I'm a non-conformist. But i see no problem in making goals for a new year, therefore i swallow my pride and here we go.

1- 2008 is the year I get serious about music writing. I have written down parts (for arrangements) that look like a first grader did it and forget about writing down the accompaniment. It takes me 3 years just to write one line. Anyway, so we have some software, a new computer, and a digital piano. No more excuses. It is go time.

2- Sean and I recently ate at a German restaurant at the request of my brother who's German. Just kidding, he went on a mission there. Anyway, we never eat German food but HOLY CRAP this food was a-mazing. It is another moment where I realize i don't have a clue about what i thought i liked and i need to branch out even more. So we resolve to eat at more ethnic restaurants. The more obscure the better. Who else would have a Tanzanian restaurant than NYC? We need to take advantage while we're here.

3- Get a haircut. Check! Did it already. And yes, this may be the only haircut of the year.

4- Be more social, or something. I am not the host-type. I'd rather sit back and chat with the funniest people and let other people entertain/serve themselves. This sounds like I'm a jerk. Maybe i am. But, now that i think about it, since i'm not the host-type, maybe i need to resolve to do better at getting myself invited to things. That way i can be more social without having to entertain people. So maybe another resolution should be...

5- Be cooler and funnier. Ha ha ha. oh man.. i'm sorry. I typed that as if it were possible.

6- Be less jerky and work on humility.

7- See more movies. I guess the problem here is not that i haven't seen enough, but not enough good ones are being made. i guess my resolution is contingent upon that. So i'll leave that resolution to the movie makers.

8- Cook more and be more adventurous in the kitchen. I swear if we have sausage and pasta one more night, so help me... Actually, sausage and pasta sounds really good right now...

That's about all i have for now and i don't want to start making up things that sound good but that i haven't given serious thought to like "eat better." I'm not sure i am ready to make that commitment. Although, to be honest, i eat pretty well already. I am very selective about my treats and sweets and can't have crap food like potato chips and whatnot anymore because it makes me ill. I could definitely eat more vegetables though.

Happy new year. What are some things you'd like to improve upon?

I think #6 is the big one. ;0) J/K I actually read that one and laughed because I don't think you're a jerk or cocky so.

Here's my resolution - to try to help you with #4/5 by inviting you and Sean over. Cameron and I have talked about it lots, we just need to do it! :0)

Go, Jen, go! I think these are fine resolutions and can't wait to hear updates on how they're coming. Rock on.

Jen,

Our resolution is to read your blog more, and one day have an entry half as kick-butt as yours. That's it, we're otherwise good. If you need more resolutions we have made a list of things for you to fix. Our contact information has not changed.

p.s. good pun

My resolution for the new year is to make conversing with me as disorienting as possible. By peppering my conversations with non sequiturs and other logical fallacies, I hope to see lots of glazed-over eyes throughout 2008. I'm pretty sure this comment is a good start. Penguin.

How come I never knew about this fantastic blog? I now know that today will not be spent working at all, but laughing at all of your funnyness.
I think I laughed outloud at "be less jerky". You are funny and I like it.

What the! Kamilah, hello! and welcome. I had no idea you were such a foodie. This will help me with resolushjen #8. I confess that in the past I have stated that food blogs seem boring to me, but while looking at yours, i suddenly realized my mouth was dangerously full of saliva (gross--you're welcome for that image) and it looks to be an online cookbook of sorts that I can get behind. So i apolgoize. The french onion soup is already in my plans.

Joel--that's a really good one. "Penguin" was an excellent start.

Katie, why don't you email me that list, jerk.
