the boyfriend jean: why?

I am not sure i condone this fashion trend. It's unflattering on a woman's body and, like a handful of other styles, would only be tolerable at best on the super skinny.

Does this intrigue you? I am not above trends. For example, i am intrigued by vests this season. Sean vetoes them but me, not so much. I'd like a vest. But I think I give two thumbs down to the boyfriend jean. I was looking at jeans online and saw this picture. It's interesting, is it not, that it looks like a man modeling jeans and sparkly flats? Hmm. Think about that for a minute.

What do you think about it?

I totally thought this was a man, wearing slightly womanly shoes. It reminded me of my friend Adnaan, in Zanzibar, who would walk around wearing jelly shoes (yes, you read that right-- jelly shoes! Like you had as a little girl!) and because Adnaan was one of those inherently cool people, no one except us Americans gave it a second glance.

Maybe Adnaan was just ahead of his time...

I knew Sean was a smart guy! Just say no to vests!

I am in San Fransisco as I write this and I think I saw a guy wearing that exact outfit today.

Sadly, I secretly wish I could wear vests without looking like a total moron.

Well, you know about my fashion sense - I make you go shopping with me because I don't trust myself alone. So if you say no to the boyfriend jean, I agree!

Ha ha. I wonder if vests for men is different from vests for women. What i want is a long flowy sweatery type vest. They look cool. I am boring myself talking about this.

i heart jelly shoes. Target dollar section sold them last year & i think i bought 3 pairs. I know... total glutton.

Confession: I used to wear boyfriend jeans in college. Eek! I know. Judge me. Get it out of your system.

I only offer this up because of an insight I had having belonged on both sides of the blue jean fence. At that time I had a boyfriend. I think these jeans are dubbed as such because if you already have a man in your life these are going to be fun to wear. If you are boyfriendless you don't stand a chance getting one in these.

Your blog is such a good place for me to get things off my chest. not that I feel safe here...hmm..I'll go figure that one out.

So wait--were they your boyfriend's jeans? Is this better than wearing jeans look like a boy's jeans? I wonder. Definitely better than wearing just man jeans--meant for boys and not girls--and yes i did this. I wore boy jeans back in the day. *shameful face*

Let it out, amberbop. let it out. I like calling you by your blog name.
